Manager, Operations and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)

Position Summary:

The Operations and EHS Manager is responsible for leading the implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of safety, compliance, and operational excellence across all distribution centers and fleet operations. This role focuses on driving a strong safety culture through training, audits, learning events, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), while also supporting key operational initiatives, cost tracking, and performance management.

Key Responsibilities:

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS):

· Lead safety training programs, learning events, and the development and maintenance of SOPs across all operational functions.

· Conduct regular site safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

· Oversee compliance for DC operations, truck fleets, forklifts, and attachments.

· Manage safety improvement and compliance projects, ensuring timely execution and measurable outcomes.

· Serve as the lead contact for CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) compliance and certification processes.

· Maintain and enhance ISO certification processes and documentation across operational facilities.

· Track and report safety metrics, incident trends, and corrective actions.

Operations Support:

· Monitor and report on key operations performance indicators (KPIs), including productivity, safety, and cost metrics.

· Prepare monthly and quarterly cost reports for leadership review.

· Support bonus calculations and related performance-based incentive programs for operations teams.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute operational projects, including capital expenditures (CapEx).

· Identify and implement opportunities for operational improvement and efficiency gains.

Travel:

· Conduct regular visits to distribution centers and operational sites for audits, training, and project support (up to 50% travel required).


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Operations Management, or related field (required).
  • 5+ years of combined experience in operations and EHS management, preferably in a distribution or logistics environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, DOT compliance, CTPAT, ISO standards, and EHS best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting audits, managing safety programs, and implementing SOPs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis for KPI reporting, cost tracking, and bonus calculations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to travel regionally and nationally as needed.

 

Preferred Certifications:

  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar credential
  • ISO Lead Auditor Certification
  • Six Sigma or Lean certification (a plus)


Work Environment:

·        This role requires frequent travel (up to 50%) to distribution centers, warehouses, and operational sites across the U.S.

 

·        The position involves both office and industrial environments, including exposure to active warehouse and yard operations, forklifts, heavy equipment, and truck traffic.

 

·        Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods during site audits and inspections.

 

·        Occasional work at heights, confined spaces, or outdoors in varying weather conditions may be required when conducting safety evaluations.

 

·        Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required when visiting operational sites.

 

·        Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours may be required to support training events, audits, or time-sensitive projects.

 

·        Use of a laptop and other standard office equipment is required for data reporting, documentation, and communication.
